Show 'n' Tell August 2021

It was wonderful to be back at Palm Beach 11th Avenue Community Space for our August meeting!



What an incredible array of textile arts were on show: we had fabric dyeing and painting; stitching; felting; scrumbling, applique and collage.  

There were bags, beads, books, cards, cases, clothing, cushions, cosies, samples, tags and Works-In-Progress.

Despite the border closures we were still able to catch up with our NSW contingent for Show 'n' Tell over Zoom.

    Such a great turn out for our first day back at Palm Beach and it was wonderful to catch up with those who couldn't be there as well.

Hi Wild Women I'm happy to report that my recent entries into the Gold Coast Show awarded me 2nd and 3rd prizes in millinery and a great big 1st in the dream catcher section.  Wasn't fit enough to go to the show when it was on, so it was a real thrill when collecting them to see their certificates attached.   Patti x  For those who may of missed it - click here to see photos of Patti's show entries.

1 year of stitches

Following on from Cara's inspirational stitching posts ... Susan Robin Sorrell shared a post by Sarah Barnes on the Brown Paper Bag blog  to the Fiber Arts/Mixed Media Art group Facebook page this morning which caught my eye. Sarah was showcasing the 1 Year of Stitches  challenge - a 365 day project by Hannah Claire Somerville which she started at the beginning of 2016.  Each day, at least one stitch is added to the same embroidery hoop (or two). Throughout the year, the design grows and grows, taking on a life of its own inside of this circle. In addition to the stitches, Hannah chronicles each day via Instagram and includes a short post. A number of people have been inspired to start their own 1 year of stitches project, including Michelle Anais Beaulieu-Morgan who started hers in mid 2016.
