Lilyan's ATASDA display

Image
Posted on behalf of Lilyan. This was a piece done for the ATASDA guild stand at the Quilt and Craft Show using fabric dyed at a Wendi Trulsen workshop. The fabric was jersey silk/cotton mixture dyed in a sandwich. I used various gum leaves, silver dollar, onion skin, with  a green sari silk thread. This was quilted onto an A4 size wool fabric in gold thread and finished with blanket stitch using eco dyed silk thread.

eMagazines

At the meeting yesterday we started talking about what magazines are available from the GC Libraries. Two services you may not be aware of are Zinio and Flipster - which are eMagazine content providers.  You can access them from the Online Library link on the catalogue. They are designed to use with a tablet or a computer and you will need your library card number and Pin to access these resources. Both can be used via a browser or through an App. Any of the library staff can help show you how to use these services if you need assistance. I found 39 art/craft related titles on Zinio not including digital photography and sugar craft. Rather than going through the A to Z list (which I did!) you can filter by genre. What a fabulous day! A big welcome to Karen and Michelle, who joined us for the first time today. Patti kicked off show and tell with the exciting news that that two hats she entered into the GC Show were awarded 2nd and 3rd prizes for millinery, and the dreamcatcher was awarded 1st place.   Click here to see the photos of her masterpieces! Also on display were a colourful array of beautifully embellished felted items and textile art journal books. We all had great fun starting work on our Soulful Divas and look forward to seeing how they have progressed at the October meeting! Finally, Helen, Maggie and Patti shared the exciting news that the hats they submitted for the  Little Hats Project -  Hats for Happiness Australia  are now up on the Project Facebook page and the auction has started.  Bidding closes noon 7 October.  If you are on Facebook, please take a moment to visit the page and support this worthy cause by liking or sharing those entries that appeal to you.

Pleased with my efforts ...

Hi Wild Women I'm happy to report that my recent entries into the Gold Coast Show awarded me 2nd and 3rd prizes in millinery and a great big 1st in the dream catcher section.  Wasn't fit enough to go to the show when it was on, so it was a real thrill when collecting them to see their certificates attached.   Patti x  For those who may of missed it - click here to see photos of Patti's show entries.
